Wii U S.E of Mass Effect 3 did'nt even make it into the UK top 40 games chart, nor did it make the Wii U specific Top 10 either.

Ninty console owners once more not particularly interested in buying non-Ninty non-cutesy games combined with the fact the console has only recently launched so the user based is tiny?

Crytek ruled out Wii U version of Crysis 3 as well, saying E.A lacked the buisness drive to bring it to the platform.

I initially thought the reason may have been due to Wii U perhaps struggling with the new CryEngine 3 said game utilises. Then a quick look on Wiki' revealed the following,

The new engine was being developed for use on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. As for the PC platform, the engine is said to support development in DirectX 9, 10, and 11.

... so the technical challenge would appear not to be the reason. Perhaps EA are reasoning that the more niche (dare I use the term 'hardcore'?!) nature of the Crysis franchise (not exactly CoD is it) is unlikely to go down well with Ninty fans. That said, if Ninty want Wii U to not be another Wii in terms of sorely lacking third-party game support then it needs such games to be released on the platform.

🙂 Since Laird and DC joined the Nintendo ranks, looks like only i am left to pour scorn...

UK Games Chart, this is 3rd week in a row there are NO Wii U only games in the Top 40.Last time there was? it was 15th Dec 2012 and that was Nintendo Land at No.39.

How are multi-platform games faring, well, mentioned Mass Effect 3, but few figures on some others, chart track wise, sales relate to past week.

Black Ops 2, mere 1% of ALL sales gone to Wii U.

0% of Just Dance 4 go to Wii U.

Sonic+Sega All Stars Racing fares better, 9% of ALL sales.

Yep, small user base and and all that, but i do wonder how long term, 3rd party support is going to pan out.

oh no your not alone... I own a Wii and Gamecube but I still hate Nintendo lol ;) The wii-u certainly looks like a massive failure so far when you compare it to the original wii's popularity. Though I guess things could still turn around, but I have to admit I hope it doesn't. Hopefully then Nintendo will start to appeal to the core gamers again instead of the casual limp wrist family market lol

I haven't read through the whole thread, sorry  😀 grin has been tempered somewhat.

These comments are based on about 4 hours of use, only playing NintendoLand, and all start with '0oh', 'Oh' or 'Uh'.  All questions are rhetorical.

0.0 - 0.5 hrs - 'Ooh, I like the look of this'.
0.5 - 1.5 hrs - 'Oh that doesn't look anything like me!'. (After using camera to create a MiiU)
1.5 - 2.0 hrs - 'Uh?  Is it me or is this console a bit slow?'
2.0 - 3.0 hrs - 'Ooh, so that's what a convoluted process for sending friend requests looks like.
3.0 - 4.0 hrs - 'Oh, what weird gameplay.  Not sure I like that.' After playing F-Zero and Zelda mini games.
+ 48hrs since setting up my WiiU - I went to look at WiiU games in a real shop today.  'OhMFnG look at the price of those games!'  There's no wonder I still only have NL and RT is saying that not many are selling!  ::)

I am hearing these stories a lot . . . .

This is why I will stick to my word (unlike DC) and not be buying one!

Ignoring the troll then  :P ...

From what I've experienced of Nintendo Land so far the game is largely terrible, imho. The list of what's wrong with it would take me so long to type I'm losing the will to live just thinking about it.

Wii launched with the pack-in game Wii Sports which, despite its simplicity, grabbed you instantly with its immediacy. So what the heck have they done with Nintendo Land? It's a woeful game with the odd flicker of excitement to be had.

When I first owned a Wii I couldn't get enough of Wii Sports and played it over and over. The sequel Wii Sports Resort was mostly decent too albeit that the formula had been flogged to death by the time of its release. Nintendo Land? I can bearly muster the enthusiasm to play it again. The thought of picking up the box, opening it, lifting out the game disc to then insert it in to the console feels like an ordeal in itself just to play that mess of a game.

Biggest screw-up of all is the fact the game is meant to be multiplayer but commits the cardinal sin of not having any form on online multiplayer mode. Yes, an offline multiplayer party game as the console's first-party launch title included as the pack-in title in Premium versions of the console to showcase Wii U's capability. The internets word 'Meh' was invented for such a game, imho.

Thankfully, I've picked up some other games for Wii U too so hopefully the memory of Nintendo Land will soon diminish.

who's a troll? lol, I thought you were crying for help from those who aren't exactly Nintendos biggest fans. I don't HATE them like I hated Sony and like I still hate Apple but I don't have any respect for them since the Wii and the Wii-U has done nothing to change my opinion

I was ragging on forum co-admin Laird just for the lulz, lol!  :P

I certainly don't require the assistance of "those who aren't exactly Nintendos biggest fans" as I've never had a beef with Ninty fans. In fact I've just now 'friended' a good number of them on Wii U's Miiverse. It's only the small minority of ultra deluded but extremely vocal Ninty fanboys, or Nintendards as some of us lovingly refer to them as, that ruin things for the rest of us.

We all know the kind of morons in question. The sort who get in a lather should one have the temerity to not share in their opinion that everything Ninty is amazing, revolutionary and innovative. Especially innovative because that's a particular favourite of theirs. The sort of people who constantly TELL us all that Mario, Zelda et al games are 'amazing' like they're stating fact. Those incapable of accepting any other point of view that runs contrary to the gospel according to the Nintendard hive mind.

Strange as it may perhaps seem, I'm actually quite a fan of Nintendo myself and as can be seen from my sig I happen to own pretty much all home and handheld consoles the company has released... with the notable exceptions being the ghastly NES (no biggie there as pretty much no-one else in the UK bought one either back in the day), the godawful 3DS and the SNES.

Shoot me down in flames if you must but I actually quite like the Wii U. *gasp!*

nevermind I was only messing around. I actually wouldn't mind having a SNES to try out Super Metroid but doubt I will ever bring myself to buy one. I don't mind the gamecube or the wii I just don't much like the way nintendo has done things and there shameful lack of innovation. Or perhaps its not a lack of but merely an incredible ability to make things that are innovative somehow mundane with the constant repetition of game franchises. For example the wii WAS innovative but I found myself looking at Super Mario Bros Wii and thinking... "how did they make ANOTHER Mario game on the wii look and play almost EXACTLY like the old Nintendo ones?" you guys know what I mean lol. and don't get me started with Super Mario Galaxy!!!

Wow! That is a big blow considering the support Konami have given Nintendo over the years

And perhaps MORE so, considering a PREQUEL (Castlevania:Lords Of Shadow:Mirror Of Fate), is a 3DS EXCLUSIVE (due early 2013).

I just read the story on EuroGamer. Of the subsequent site members' comments this one amused me the most,

Wii U. U for unsupported by the looks of it.

Just 'discovered' that you can power on, launch, and play some Wii U games without using the gamepad at all. :)

Gamepad battery life is horrible and I'm sick of scrambling for the a/c adapter just to launch games. I usually use the Wii's classic controller for gameplay anyway...

how sucky is that though? To have to use the old wii controller to play games... and is it really worth bothering with the screen controller for just one player gameplay? Can you use more than 1 on the same machine? Soooo glad I'm avoiding this pile.

A rather telling fact which I found amusing the day after boxing day was that in the new GAME store in Watford, the 360 games and stuff line the wall on the right, the ps3 and psp and other stuff lines the far left wall, the back end of the left wall has the wii u. The ONLY section getting any activity aside from the MASSIVE queue going up the left side out the door was the 360 section. sad state of affairs but it kinda sums the wii-u up at the moment. as well as the ps3, people are happy to buy and show off a playstation but they just never actually buy any games for it lol
